Little James Patrick Carlson arrived on Saturday, June 9th, at 9:22 AM. He was 8 lbs, 11 oz, and 20.5 inches long. And he has a head full of hair.
His name took a while to actually settle on, but we've been tossing the name James around for a while. When the name feels to formal for our tiny, unassuming little boy, we call him Jem. If you're unfamiliar with that nickname, pick up To Kill A Mockingbird. It's worth the read, or the re-read if you've flipped through it before.
James has a healthy set of lungs, which he loves to use to scream himself hoarse during diaper changes and baths. His forehead is often crinkled with worry, like the kid in the movies that's always wondering, "Are you guys sure this is a good idea?" He loves to be outside, has a stormy love-hate relationship with his paci, and he has his daddy's nose and feet.
