Eyelashes

"Mommy, this is the last time I am going to say this to you."

"Umm, what, babe?"

"Girls are the only people who have eyelashes."

[This has been an ongoing debate spanning several months. We hadn't talked about it in weeks, though, when she started this conversation. Funny girl.]

"...Cambrie, look at James."

"...Yes, but, ... But we are the only people with eyelashes. Me, and James, and you, and Owen, and Grandma, and... does Daddy have eyelashes?"

"Yes, he does."

"...and Daddy. But Mommy, this is the last time I am going to say this to you. You cannot say what you said anymore."

"What, that everyone has eyelashes?"

"Yes. You can think what you think, and I can think what I think."

"And you think that only girls have eyelashes."

"Yes. And we are not going to talk about it anymore."

"Okay."

"Because, Mommy, that is the last time I am going to say that to you."

"Yes, I heard."

"Because that is what I know. But you can think what you want to think."

"Yes. Thank you."

"And no more talking about it."

"Okay. That sounds great."

"Because, Mommy..."

"Oh, Cambrie, I hear the baby. I need to go get him. ...And change his diaper. ...And it may take a while. I'll be in the other room..."

"Okay."

[And off she goes to the next thing to imagine, or deduce, or create, or pester, or love...]
